Justin Ufheil, LCSW

Everyone deserves the opportunity to reflect on and process life's changes without judgment. My aim is to cultivate a non-judgmental open space where all expression is welcome. I work with a range of clients including those struggling with anxiety, depression, interpersonal challenges, disordered eating, grief and loss, life transitions, childhood trauma, compulsions, and emotional regulation. Feel free to reach out to me to see if we might be a good fit!

My Approach

I believe that our brains are hardwired with the desire to heal, and that our bodies have a desire to make that healing a reality, no matter how long that process takes. My approach to therapy is rooted in the beliefs of my profession as a Social Worker. I value your autonomy above all else. I see therapy as a way to work together to help you overcome your past and make empowered decisions regarding your present and future. Through understanding, compassion, and insight I will work with you to build a life worth living, and a life that is based not on what happened to you, but on what you value in the here and now. I feel very passionately about the work that I am able to do to help people heal and move forward. You are more than who you were on your worst day, and I see therapy as a collaborative effort to change the way you think and feel about yourself. Progress in therapy is never linear, and every person’s journey in therapy is unique. I pride myself on meeting clients where they are. I see you as more than just your trauma, and I want to go on this journey of self-discovery and healing with you. I use several modalities ranging from cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT), Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), and EMDR.

My Background

I have spent the past 5 years working in community mental health for a local non-profit. Working in this environment has allowed me to develop skills in supporting diverse individuals from a range of different backgrounds, ages, identities, and socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

I have extensive experience working with individuals who suffer from: PTSD, complex trauma, childhood trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, invalidating environments in childhood and adulthood, military trauma, and readjustments. Most recently, I have focused on processing
traumatic grief through EMDR, and have witnessed people’s ability to transform the way they view their past and shine new light on the future.

I believe that my passion as a therapist is evident in the work that I do. I feel hopeful that my experience and passion can help you reach your goals, and that together we can write a new chapter in the book of your life.
